*buzzing IN POP-CULTURE WEEK 16
What happened in pop-culture this week: Spotify celebrates superfans, On and Zendaya continue their collab, Heinz Brazil drops grillz, and Balmain goes fully OOO.
*buzzing IN MUSIC: SPOTIFY’S SUPERFAN CAMPAIGN
What looks like a visual riddle to many is full of codes and references for superfans of their favorite artists. Spotify just dropped a global campaign that celebrates the weird, wonderful world of superfans — their most important audience (and mine too).
From Oasis fans with Liam haircuts to pink cowboy hats at Chappell Roan shows, it captures how deep devotion looks in real life. No data deep-dives this time, just pure vibe: emotional, personal, and artful.
Fandom isn’t just big — it’s moving. And Spotify gets that.
*buzzing: ZENDAYA AND ON IN SPACE
“…for longer than 11 minutes” (–Nadia Lee Cohen).
Zendaya and On return with Zone Dreamers — a retrofuturistic campaign that feels like a trailer for the coolest sci-fi movie never made. Directed by Balenciaga and D&G x Skims mastermind Nadia Lee Cohen and styled by Zendaya’s stylist Law Roach, it takes Zendaya to space to explore, move, and lead. At the center: On’s new Cloudzone sneaker and pieces from their Spring/Summer 2025 Movement collection.
*buzzing: THE HEINZ GRILLZ
How amazing to connect the product insight — that people often use their teeth to open those tiny Heinz ketchup, mustard, and mayo packs — with the cultural rise of grillz. What started in NYC’s early hip-hop scene as a remix of classic jewelry has since gone global, turning into an iconic fashion accessory that’s now part of both high fashion shoots and rap videos. Now, Heinz Brazil tapping into that with matching grillz in their visuals? Simple. Stunning. Thank you to whoever did this.
*buzzing IN FASHION: BALENCIAGA GOES OOO
Balenciaga just dropped its High Summer campaign—and it’s giving surreal resort fantasy. Shot against CGI seaside backdrops, the visuals mix escapism with edge. Think BB bikinis, bustier swimsuits, raffia bags, and Ski Mask Goggles. Even the cult Le City gets a canvas update. Summer, but reprogrammed the Balenciaga way.
*buzzing CAR: HOT WHEELS RELEASES NIGO’S G-WAGON
A few months ago, Nigo unveiled his custom G-Wagon in collaboration with Mercedes and Moncler during their “City of Genius” event in Shanghai. Following last week’s fashion drop, the collab just hit a different scale — literally — as the car gets reimagined as a collectible Hot Wheels toy.
Heinz Brazil my favourite.
