*buzzing IN POP-CULTURE WEEK 29
What happened in pop-culture this week: Football’s off-season, but still everywhere! from the FIFA 2026 trailer to OVO x Chelsea, Polly Pocket drops a collectible, and Dua Lipa’s Porsche is for sale!
*buzzing IN GAMING: EA SPORTS ANNOUNCE FC 2026
Ahead of the official release of EA Sports FC 2026 in late September, the first trailer and cover art dropped on Wednesday! The trailer directly responds to fan feedback, highlighting improvements in pace, agility, and those frustrating bounce backs. Gameplay is promised to feel more authentic than ever (at least compared to FC 2025).
But it's not just about the game. The trailer also debuts one of the soundtrack’s season highlights: Bad Bunny’s “NUEVAYoL” -not that he or the track needed any more hype. 😅 Still, it brings together some of the biggest pop-cultural momentums of the year.
Alongside the trailer, EA Sports also revealed two new cover artworks. The standard edition features the young and wild duo Jude Bellingham and Jamal Musiala (in the #10, no less!) - two players who grew up competing on the pitch in the UK and became close friends off it. The deluxe edition, meanwhile, goes full icon mode: it features a photo of Zlatan Ibrahimović that echoes an old snapshot of him in his childhood bedroom, walls plastered with posters of his hero, Brazilian Ronaldo. Full circle energy.
*buzzing EVENT: TOURIST BOOM IN PUERTO RICO THANKS TO BAD BUNNY’S RESIDENCY
This week, Bad Bunny kicked off his 30-day residency in San Juan, Puerto Rico - a love letter to his home that sold out in under 24 hours. The residency is expected to bring nearly 500,000 tourists and generate over $200 million for the local economy. While his music continues to dominate global pop culture (literally everyone I know tried to get tickets for next year’s tour), he’s more than just a superstar. In Puerto Rico, he’s a national hero, reshaping the country's image on the world stage and uplifting its people and culture from within. His efforts were even recognized at Cannes.
*buzzing IN SPORTS: OVO & CENTRAL CEE FOR CHELSEA LONDON
Drake’s OVO and Chelsea FC just teamed up for a limited-edition collab blending streetwear and football heritage. Fronted by Central Cee, the drop includes tees, hoodies, a rugby shirt, and a standout varsity jacket featuring a merged OVO x Chelsea crest. Toronto meets London - available now at OVO and Chelsea FC stores.
*buzzing: POLLY POCKET’S COLLECTIBLE TOY
Polly Pocket has been teaming up with Milan-based fashion brand GCDS for a few years now, including a bag that debuted in one of GCDS’ previous collections. Now, the partnership returns for Milan Fashion Week, as Mattel and GCDS unveil a Polly Pocket house inspired by both GCDS and the city of Milan. The playful world of Polly Pocket came to life in the heart of Italy with an immersive event full of miniature magic and big fashion energy.
*buzzing: DUA LIPA’S PORSCHE RACECAR IS UP FOR AUCTION
Remember Dua Lipa’s Rennstall GT3 RS Porsche that debuted at the Monaco F1 Grand Prix? It’s now up for auction! The one-of-a-kind racecar is being sold to benefit Dua’s Sunny Hill Foundation, which supports arts and culture in Kosovo. RM Sotheby’s estimates it at over $470,000 - but it’ll likely go for way more.
