*buzzing IN POP-CULTURE WEEK 44
What happened in pop-culture this week: Converse powered Tyler’s CHROMATOPIA event, Tate McRae starred in the SKIMS holiday campaign —and best of all, Sandy Liang teamed up with Monchhichi!
*buzzing: TIMOTHÉE CHALAMET LOOKALIKE CONTEST
The week’s biggest buzz? The Timothée Chalamet lookalike contest in NYC’s Washington Square Park. Hosted by YouTuber Anthony Po, the event drew a huge crowd of lookalikes—and even Timothée Chalamet himself showed up (though he didn’t snag the $50 prize). MCo Beauty, the rising Aussie beauty brand, flew in TikTok star Cramer Ekholm to join the fun and capture the cultural moment. Smart move!
*buzzing COLLAB: SANDY LIANG X MONCHHICHI
Do you know Sandy Liang? If not, you should change that immediately! She not only runs an incredible fashion label inspired by grandmothers from Chinatown, but she has also designed some of the best sneaker collaborations in recent years, including partnerships with Salomon and Vans. Plus, she played a key role in co-creating the balletcore hype. Now, she’s teamed up with the Japanese toy brand Monchhichi to create a Sandy Liang Monchhichi world. The whole concept was beautifully captured in a sweet photoshoot in her NYC store by Michael Kusumadjaja.
*buzzing IN MUSIC: CONVERSE AT CHROMAKOPIA LISTENING EXPERIENCE
To celebrate the release of his album Chromakopia, Tyler, The Creator threw a listening party in his hometown of L.A., performing tracks on a striking setup of 14 containers arranged as a cross. Converse, longtime collaborators with Tyler and his brand Golf Le Fleur*, powered the event—Tyler rocked his Chromakopia look with Converse kicks, of course. But Converse didn’t stop at hosting the experience; they owned the entire album launch, driving massive media support to amplify the release.
*buzzing BRAND: DYSON NAMES STORMZY AS NEW GLOBAL BRAND AMBASSADOR
Following their recent partnership with RAYE, Dyson has just announced their latest ambassador for their headphone line: none other than Stormzy, who will now be the global face of Dyson’s OnTrac headphones.
*buzzing COLLAB: PUMA X SKEPTA
To me, Puma has somehow claimed the title of hottest sportswear brand when it comes to collabs. From Riri and Rocky to Ottolinger and Coperni, Puma’s done it all—and they're not slowing down for 2024! They just announced the next drop in their Skepta collab: a capsule collection designed to keep you looking sexy while hiking. I need this!
*buzzing CONTENT: LOEWE X YURI HIMURO
Loewe teamed up with textile designer Yuri Himuro for their latest ad, which beautifully recreates a distinctive Loewe world on grass-like fabric, playfully incorporating the iconic Loewe logo. I absolutely love this kind of FUN social content!
*buzzing STUNT: BRABUS HOSTS FASHION SHOW FOR THEIR CARS
Brabus has transformed from a German Mercedes tuning workshop into a global multimillion-dollar powerhouse, creating highly unique cars for celebrities like Travis Scott, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Drake. To highlight this evolution, they recently hosted “Signature Night 24” in Düsseldorf, showcasing their latest models—including a massive truck—on the runway, with CEO Constantin “Brabus” Buschmann sharing the spotlight with stars like Central Cee and Pusha T.
*buzzing CAMPAIGN: TATE MCRAE FOR SKIMS
Skims is gearing up for the holidays with the launch of their holiday shop this week! The campaign showcases cozy, heartwarming pieces perfect for winter, featuring none other than Canadian pop sensation Tate McRae—alongside an adorable polar bear.
*buzzing PLAYLIST
Since I’m at Disneyland Paris over the long weekend, the playlist update will be delayed a few days. Be sure to subscribe to catch the new music on Monday!
